Skein ("we," "our," or "the app") is a knitting toolkit developed by Nice People Collective LLC. This policy describes how we handle your information.
Everything you create in Skein — your projects, patterns, yarn stash, gauge measurements, and grading calculations — is stored only on your device. There are no accounts, and we do not run servers that hold your content. The one exception is anonymous usage analytics, described below.
The following is saved locally on your iPhone and is never transmitted to us:
Deleting the app removes all of this permanently. We keep no backup of it.
Skein uses Mixpanel to understand how the app is used so we can improve it. Mixpanel receives:
That identifier is not your name, email address, or Apple ID, and we do not link it to your identity. It is, however, persistent for as long as the app is installed, so it is pseudonymous rather than strictly anonymous. We want to describe that accurately rather than overstate it.
Mixpanel never receives the content you create — no patterns, projects, stash entries, photos, measurements, or designer details. Deleting the app resets the identifier.
Skein offers an optional subscription, Designer Pro, processed entirely through Apple's App Store using Apple's StoreKit framework. We never see or receive your payment details. Subscription management, billing, and renewals are handled by Apple. We do not use any third-party subscription or payment service.
The Designer Workspace can prepare a submission pitch and open it in your own email app. You choose the recipient and you send it yourself from your own email account. We do not receive a copy, and we do not store the addresses you send to.
We do not sell, rent, or share your information. We do not use your data for advertising, we do not include advertising networks in the app, and we do not build profiles about you.
Skein is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Because your content lives on your device, you control it entirely. You can delete individual items inside the app, or remove everything by deleting the app. If you would like us to answer questions about analytics or request that we stop processing usage data associated with your installation, email us at the address below and we will help.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will appear on this page with a revised effective date.
